Environmental Policy
Downderry had a strong environmental policy, principally aimed at reducing our impact on the environment.
We did the following:
Compost all biodegradable waste.
Sterilize/disinfect pots and trays and production beds between each batch of plants.
Recycle – pots and trays past their life, polythene of all types, metal, electrical components, cardboard, junk mail.
Insulate heated growing houses with bubble polythene to reduce power usage.
Insulate office and staff areas to reduce power usage.
